Evergold Carex

Carex Evergold (Carex oshimensis 'Evergold') is a stunning ornamental grass known for its vibrant, arching foliage featuring bright yellow centers with dark green margins. This evergreen sedge brings year-round color and texture to the landscape, making it an excellent choice for adding contrast and brightness to garden beds, borders, and containers. Its fine-textured leaves create a soft, cascading effect, ideal for softening edges in formal or informal garden designs. Carex Evergold thrives in partial to full shade, making it perfect for brightening up shady areas where other plants may struggle to stand out. Hardy in USDA Zones 5-9, Carex Evergold is highly adaptable to a variety of climates and growing conditions. This compact sedge typically reaches 12-18 inches in height and spreads about 18-24 inches, making it an excellent choice for ground cover, edging, or as a focal point in smaller spaces. Its evergreen foliage retains its striking color throughout the year, even in cooler climates, ensuring it adds visual interest in every season. Additionally, Carex Evergold tolerates a range of soil types as long as the soil is well-drained and performs well in moist but not soggy environments. Low-maintenance and deer-resistant, Carex Evergold requires minimal care once established, making it an excellent choice for busy gardeners or low-water landscapes. It pairs beautifully with shade-loving perennials like hostas, ferns, and astilbes, creating a lush and layered look in shaded areas. This versatile sedge is also excellent for containers, where its bright, variegated leaves can be used to add contrast and texture to mixed plantings. Whether you're looking for a striking ground cover or a bright accent for shady spots, Carex Evergold brings enduring beauty and functionality to any landscape.
