Carbon: Activated Carbon - 3.75 Pounds

Activated carbon is a tank filtration staple, helping your aquarium maintain water quality and clarity. Our carbon can be used in both freshwater and saltwater systems. Some of the benefits of including Carbon in your tank filtration tools include: Removes organic pollutants Eliminates toxins Improves water clarity Reduced tank odors   STARTING INSTRUCTIONS  Measure out the amount to be used in your tank. The recommended amount is around 1.5 mL per every gallon in tank volume, or 15 mL (1 tbsp) per every 10 gallons of tank volume. Follow instructions below based on your carbon method: MESH FILTER BAG Add carbon to your mesh filter bag. Rinse the carbon under water from your tank or RO/DI water about 30 seconds, or until the water runs clear. Avoid grinding the carbon in the bag while doing so, since this may create a fine particle dust that will need to be rinsed out. Place the bag into your sump or a high flow area of your tank to ensure water is being filtered well through the carbon. REACTOR OR CANISTER FILTER Rinse the measured carbon under water from your tank or RO/DI water about 30 seconds, or until the water runs clear. Avoid grinding or shaking the carbon while doing so, since this may create a fine particle dust that will need to be rinsed out. Place the carbon in your reactor or canister filter.  MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS Change out carbon every 2-4 weeks based on tank needs and water clarity.
