CaraRed Malt - Weyermann

Weyermann CaraRed Malt is a specialty caramel malt made from top-quality German barley, crafted through a proprietary process that develops distinctive malty-sweet, honey, and pastry character. Amber to reddish copper in color (15–23° Lovibond), it intensifies beer color and stabilizes the flavor profile while adding layers of malt complexity without harsh roast character. CaraRed is ideally suited to Red IPAs, American Pale Ales, Vienna Lagers, American Amber Ales, Scottish Ales, and Irish Red Ales, where its amber-red hue and nuanced sweetness are precisely what the style calls for. It works particularly well in Bocks, Baltic Porters, and Flanders Red Ales, contributing malt depth and a warm amber glow to darker styles as well. Weyermann recommends combining CaraRed with Melanoidin malt to push the color deeper into a true rich red and to amplify the layered malt character. At up to 25% of the grain bill, it gives brewers flexibility across both subtle color accents and more assertive malt-forward recipes. Whether you are building a session red ale or crafting a complex amber lager, CaraRed provides consistent color, stable flavor, and a refined sweetness that distinguishes your beer from start to finish.
