Canyon: Life is a Gamble

In Texas, 1877, a poker hand can win you a fortune—or get you shot before sunset. All Oliver Canyon Golden has ever wanted is to play poker. But gambling tables and guns can be a deadly combination when the cards don’t fall the way everyone likes. To avoid the violence and corruption that run rampant in the circles he travels, Canyon stays in constant motion, drifting from town to town. But when a young saloon girl in Albany, Texas, catches his eye, he’s drawn to protect her honor from the local bully. When the bully ends up dead, Canyon becomes the prime suspect—and the dead man’s wealthy father vows revenge. On the run once more, Canyon hides out on a small ranch, where he befriends the owner and his family. For the first time, he begins to realize there might be more to life than gambling. But just as he starts to imagine a different future, the past comes calling—and it’s armed and angry. Life is a gamble, and Canyon will have to play the strongest hand of his life to protect everything he’s come to care about. Will he cash out for good—or finally go all in on something worth staying for?
