Quick Facts: ABV: 7%  |  Origin: Veneto, Italy  |  Style: Sparkling Peach Cocktail  |  Producer: Casa Vinicola Canella S.P.A. Production & Heritage Casa Vinicola Canella, headquartered in San Donà di Piave in northeastern Italy's Veneto region, pioneered the bottled Bellini concept in 1988 — translating the iconic Harry's Bar cocktail into a shelf-stable product. The blend consists of 78% sparkling wine combined with 20% white peach puree sourced from the company's own orchards in San Donà di Piave, with a small addition of raspberry concentrate for color and complexity. Rather than relying on forced carbonation, Canella employs a patented natural sparkling fermentation method that preserves the delicate integration of fruit and wine. Tasting Notes Aroma: Ripe white peach dominates the nose immediately, followed by subtle undercurrents of raspberry. From the Prosecco base, gentle impressions of apple, pear, and white flowers emerge on the second pass. Taste: Sweet and effervescent on the entry, with the tanginess of fresh peach building across the mid-palate. The balance between fruit sweetness and sparkling wine acidity keeps the profile lively and prevents it from turning cloying. A faint berry thread from the raspberry concentrate adds a layer of complexity beneath the dominant peach character. Finish: Soft and balanced, trailing off with lingering peach and a gentle, fading sparkle. The close is clean and refreshing, with just enough residual fruit sweetness to hold your attention. How to Drink Canella Bellini Serve well chilled in a flute glass, poured straight from the bottle — no mixing, muddling, or bartending required. The characteristic deep pink hue makes it a visual showpiece on its own. For a Bellini Spritz, lengthen with a splash of soda water and garnish with fresh mint for a lighter aperitivo. Substitute it for plain sparkling wine in a Mimosa to add peach depth alongside the orange juice. Float a small measure of Chambord on top for a Peach Royale, pairing the existing raspberry notes with a richer berry accent. Best For Hosting a brunch or garden party without needing a full cocktail setup Gifting to someone who appreciates Italian aperitivo culture Serving as a welcome drink at weddings, showers, or celebrations Introducing casual wine drinkers to the classic Bellini tradition Frequently Asked Questions What does Canella Bellini taste like? It leads with sweet, ripe white peach and a lively effervescence, balanced by a subtle tang from the sparkling wine base. Underneath the primary peach character, hints of raspberry, apple, and white flowers add nuance. How does Canella Bellini compare to Tread Softly Peach Prosecco Bellini? Canella traces its lineage to 1988 as the original bottled Bellini and uses 20% white peach puree from its own orchards, giving it a denser fruit presence. Tread Softly is a newer market entrant positioned within the natural wine segment, typically lighter in peach intensity. Is Canella Bellini good for beginners? At 7% ABV with a fruit-forward, approachable flavor, it is an excellent starting point for anyone new to sparkling wine cocktails. No preparation or cocktail knowledge is needed — just chill and pour. Where is Canella Bellini made? It is produced by Casa Vinicola Canella S.P.A. in San Donà di Piave, located in the Veneto region of northeastern Italy. The company grows its own white peaches in the same area, maintaining control from orchard to bottle. What foods pair well with Canella Bellini? Fresh fruit tarts and panna cotta complement the peach sweetness. Light prosciutto and melon appetizers mirror the Italian aperitivo tradition. Soft, creamy cheeses like burrata work well against the effervescence. Almond biscotti or amaretti cookies echo the stone-fruit character. Smoked salmon canapés provide a savory counterpoint to the cocktail's sweetness. What sizes does Canella Bellini come in? The standard format is a 750ml bottle, and a smaller 200ml single-serve bottle is also available in many markets. Is Canella Bellini worth the price? It positions as an accessible, everyday sparkling cocktail that eliminates the cost of buying Prosecco and fresh peaches separately. For the convenience and consistency of a ready-made Bellini with real peach puree, it represents strong value in the pre-mixed cocktail category. Why Canella Bellini? No other bottled Bellini on the market can claim the same origin story: Canella literally invented the category in 1988, decades before ready-to-drink cocktails became mainstream. The use of estate-grown white peaches and a patented natural fermentation process — rather than forced carbonation — results in a more integrated, less artificial sparkle than most competitors. An 88-point score from Tastings.com in 2024 and medals from the International Wine & Spirit Competition and Japan Wine Challenge confirm that the quality has endured. For anyone who wants a genuine Bellini without sourcing ripe white peaches and a bottle of Prosecco, Canella remains the benchmark.
