Philip Candle Holder

Antique gold finish L. 5.71″ | W. 5.51″ | H. 15.55″ The Candle Holder Philip, part of The Met x Eichholtz collection, channels the austere elegance of 17th-century Spanish design. Finished in antique gold, this sculptural candle holder showcases a bold silhouette and restrained detailing, echoing the solemn grandeur of the late Renaissance. The rich patina enhances its historical character, making it a refined accent for both traditional and modern interiors. Whether displayed individually or as a set, the Philip adds a sense of timeless distinction to any space. HISTORIC PROVENANCE The Candle Holder Philip is inspired by a pair of 17th-century Spanish candlesticks in the collection of The Metropolitan Museum of Art. The design of the original candlesticks reflects the Severe style associated with the reign of King Philip II of Spain (r. 1556–98), a period marked by architectural rigor and ornamental simplicity. Closely tied to the construction of the royal monastery-palace El Escorial, this stylistic movement left a lasting imprint on European decorative arts. Through The Met x Eichholtz collaboration, this legacy is brought into the present with reverence.
