Cameraworks: David Hockney

Hardback book titled Cameraworks by David Hockney, with text by Lawrence Weschler. Published by Alfred A. Knopf, New York in 1984. First American edition, 284 pages. "This volume presents the groundbreaking photographic collages of David Hockney, created between 1981 and 1983. Through hundreds of Polaroids and 35mm prints, Hockney constructs panoramic ‘joiners’ that explore time, space, and perception in bold new ways. With subjects ranging from sunlit swimming pools to intimate portraits and domestic interiors, these works challenge conventional photography, offering layered and cinematic visions of the everyday. Accompanied by Weschler’s thoughtful essay drawn from extensive interviews, Cameraworks reveals Hockney’s evolving relationship with photography and his pursuit of a visual language that mirrors the experience of seeing."
