Yuletide Camellia

Yuletide Camellia (Camellia sasanqua 'Yuletide') is an enchanting evergreen shrub that adds vibrant color to your garden with its striking single red blooms and prominent golden yellow stamens. Blooming in late fall through early winter, this camellia brings a festive touch to the landscape just in time for the holiday season, offering bright flowers when most other plants are dormant. The lush, glossy dark green foliage provides a beautiful backdrop for the brilliant red blooms, making Yuletide Camellia a standout choice for creating stunning focal points, low hedges, or accents in garden borders. The compact growth habit, reaching 6 to 8 feet in height with a similar spread, also makes it perfect for small gardens or extensive container plantings. Yuletide Camellia thrives in partial shade and prefers well-drained, slightly acidic soil rich in organic matter. Planting this camellia in a location with morning sun and afternoon shade will help protect its delicate blooms from harsh midday sunlight, ensuring they stay fresh and vibrant throughout the blooming season. This versatile shrub is also ideal for espalier, adding a unique vertical element against walls or fences. Yuletide Camellia is relatively low maintenance, requiring only occasional watering once established, and it is well-suited for garden spots that need four-season interest. Its evergreen foliage remains beautiful year-round, creating a lovely, structured appearance that enhances the garden even when not in bloom. Yuletide Camellia is also deer-resistant, meaning it can thrive in gardens where deer browsing is a concern. Whether used as a standalone specimen, planted in rows as a hedge, or featured in a mixed border, this camellia provides elegant color and a cheerful display during winter, brightening the garden with festive charm. Growing in large pots adds an elegant touch to patios, decks, or entryways, allowing you to enjoy its seasonal beauty up close. With its brilliant red flowers, golden centers, and glossy evergreen foliage, Yuletide Camellia is a timeless addition that brings warmth and beauty to your landscape all year.
