Pure & PotentConcentrated, undiluted Cosmetic GradeLeave-on approved EBC Base TestedStable in our bases All Bases ReadySoap, lotion, cosmetics Phthalate-FreeClean formulation ◈ Calaca Fragrance Oil What it smells like and what it does in a base Sugar-skull sweet, and unapologetic about it. Icing, vanilla and cream make up the body, and the surprise is peach — a soft stone-fruit lift over the top that stops the whole thing from sitting flat the way pure bakery accords tend to. That peach is what makes it read as confection rather than cake. At roughly 5% vanillin it sits in the middle of this collection for colour drift: a white base will warm over months rather than turn in weeks. The 200 °F flashpoint is among the highest in the range, which makes it easy to work into melt and pour without losing the top. Formulator’s shorthand: the most straightforwardly commercial scent in the collection. If you are building a Day of the Dead line and need one product that sells to someone who does not know the holiday, this is it. Part of a collection Día de los Muertos Ten scents drawn from the ofrenda itself. Calaca is the sugar skull — the sweetest and most playful note in the set, and the easiest entry point for a customer new to the collection. Bright colour work suits the sugar-skull theme. Lotions & Creams The cream base note doubles up nicely here. Use a vanilla colour stabilizer to hold a true white. Shower Gels & Body Wash The peach carries through surfactants better than the sugar notes do, keeping it from going cloying. ⚗ Behavior in base The four things that go wrong, and whether they will here Discoloration Expected — gradual Roughly 5% vanillin. Vanillin oxidises on exposure to air and light, so white bases warm over months. A vanilla colour stabilizer holds it, or start from a cream or tinted base. Flashpoint 200 °F / 93 °C Among the highest in the collection. Melt & pour poured at 140 °F has a very wide margin. Cold process soap Not specified Not tested for acceleration or discoloration at high pH. Sweet bakery accords commonly darken in CP — test a small batch first. Candles & wax Not suitable Formulated for skin, not wax. No burn testing performed. % Maximum usage levels IFRA certificate in preparation This fragrance is new to the line and its IFRA certificate is still being finalised. We are not publishing usage percentages until it is issued — a ceiling we cannot certify is worse than no number at all. Need limits before it is published? Email hello@essentialsbycatalina.com and we will send the current figures from our supplier’s documentation. Ours are concentrated, pure, undiluted and cosmetic grade. A concentrated oil means a lower fragrance load per batch — a little goes a long way, and your cost per unit drops even when the per-ounce price does not. Product compatibility is not the responsibility of Essentials By Catalina, Inc. We strongly advise sampling before committing to larger quantities so you can evaluate performance, compatibility and safety in your own formulation. Keep all products out of children’s reach.
