Cabo Darkness: A PI Series (Cabo Book #5)

In this explosive fifth installment of the bestselling Cabo series, the sun scorches, the secrets burn, and the past won’t stay buried. When the world’s most elusive assassin drops a high-profile target in the New Mexico desert, it should be another clean escape. But when he collapses from a mystery illness, barely surviving, he sets off a deadly chain reaction that reaches all the way to Cabo San Lucas—and private investigator Ethan Cruickshank. Cruickshank is no longer just a beach-town gumshoe. After solving a headline-grabbing case involving a scandalous movie shoot and a killer hurricane, he's now running a full-fledged agency with employees, office drama, and more clients than time. But just as he starts settling into his new life, the past returns with a vengeance. Three old allies arrive in Cabo with news that changes everything: Dina, Ethan’s wife who drowned years ago in a scuba accident, didn’t die by chance. Her killer—a dying man in a prison hospital—wants to talk. But only in secret. To uncover the truth, Ethan is forced to retrace a bloodstained trail through Santa Fe’s high desert and the shadowy corners of Lake Tahoe. Along the way, he discovers new allies, hidden enemies, and a powerful crime family with decades-old grudges…and one relentless goal: to finish what they started. From sun-drenched beaches to snow-capped mountains, this is a high-stakes race for answers where the cost of the truth might just be Ethan’s life. Can Ethan outwit a murderous legacy before it finally buries him—and everyone he loves? Or will the darkness that began with Dina’s death be the one that swallows him whole?
