A figure from Roman mythology, the artistic subject of this lyrical cameo, "Diana", is the Roman goddess of nature, fertility and childbirth. An intense interest in Greco-Roman culture and art during the Victorian era in England and America made mythological subjects an extremely popular theme for cameo jewelry. Diana is usually portrayed as the goddess of the hunt as depicted in this lovely pendant. Meticulously hand engraved in exquisite detail, this romantic carnelian shell cameo is set in a 14K yellow gold bezel oval frame. Signed on the back by the artist Borriello, this wonderful cameo measures 18 millimeters high. This enchanting cameo is ideal to collect and wear as an heirloom to add to your fine estate jewelry collection, and is sure to be a conversation piece for generations.
