C-C6.5c-XO: 6.5 Inch Audiophile Component Set with Crossovers

The newly revised C Series Component Set is made to deliver an exquisite, in-the-studio listening experience. These components would be at home in any high-end audio setup, but with their carefully engineered, space-saving, universal fitment they are an ideal choice for transforming your vehicle’s cabin into a sonic sanctuary. The Digital Designs R&D team spent over two years developing and tooling these state-of-the-art drivers, surpassing the excellence of DD’s OEM upgrade speakers without going beyond their price class, resulting in an authentic audiophile-grade component set that is accessible to all discerning listeners. This set is, at every level, high fidelity. In the upper range the tweeters produce a rich, airy feeling that reveals clear detail with every octave. In the midrange the woofers render vocals with distinctly natural and life-like character, while delivering band instruments and samplings with smooth layering. In the lower range you will be stunned by the clean, tight beats and be lulled by the rhythmic transient response. In the “c” revision, critical attention has been paid to ensuring musicality without ear fatigue and resolution without edge. 6.5 Midwoofer The design starts out by reducing the mounting depth of the chassis and motor, tucking the high energy CnC motor inside the frame and tooling a vented suspension system around the motor. The high energy grade magnet resides in a shorting ring motor design to eliminate electro-magnetic distortions resulting in clean, natural and detailed midrange response. It features a curvilinear, shallow composite cone with an asymmetrical carbon and glass fibre weave, rigid enough to not flex under stress and internally dampened to not ring in the upper frequency range. This ultra light cone is matched to a NBR rubber surround that’s flexible, durable and light enough to achieve high sensitivity whilst controlling ringing effects. The voice coil is bifilar wound, further reducing mass, optimizing sensitivity and power. 20mm Broadband Tweeter The C Series broadband tweeter design includes a special cavity back that’s capable of handling additional octaves. This raises up the important frequencies in the vehicle to improve realistic imaging and overcome deficiencies exaggerated by distances between OEM locations. The ultra light and ultra rigid hemispherical diaphragm is composed of an advanced magnesium-aluminum alloy, with a thickness of only 0.035mm to yield lighting fast transients. It’s coupled to a tangential impregnated surround, suppressing segmented frequency nodes while allowing long excursion control. The low mass of the copper clad aluminum voice coil helps increase sensitivity and transients. The main and auxiliary double magnet neo-motor system plus copper shorting ring form a stable magnetic field, reduce inductance modulation and lowers distortions. The CnC turned aluminum alloy back cavity is machined to improve sound back wave diffusion, absorption and low frequency tuning. The combination of highly advanced materials, focused magnetic geometry and tuned back cavity allows the broadband tweeter to have a 580Hz resonant frequency while extending the upper frequency response beyond 40kHz !! The tweeter diaphragm is protected by a DD stainless steel CnC cut grill and comes supplied with a ABS pod to allow a high degree of installation freedom. Active or Passive Crossover The C Series woofer and tweeter can be supplied with passive crossovers or as active sets. The passive crossover point is 1600Hz allowing its ultra-broadband characteristics to be brought into play. The transparent acrylic cover displays the precision components and ensures flat frequency response and consistent phase response. The high pass is 12dB/oct with a large volume film capacitor and air core inductor. The 6.5 midwoofer is 6dB/oct with impedance compensation.
