By Hand Issue 15: Rhode Island

By Hand is a serial produced by Andrea Hungerford three times per year that explores locations around the country that have developed their own unique 'maker communities' where people who love to make, love to learn to make, and love to support makers have found a common sense of purpose. Take an intimate trip with our team to Rhode Island. The smallest state in the nation might be often overlooked, but there are many makers here, ready to be discovered! Explore scenery tailored to escapism: ivy covered brick and rugged coastlines, sprawling mansions set against crashing waves and stormy skies. Through our pages, discover that Rhode Island has more to offer than relics of the past—the Ocean State has a vibrant, bubbling culture of creatives! By Hand Serial Lookbook #15 includes eight projects and a recipe to inspire and excite you. In addition to four projects created by Andrea for this issue, we’re featuring knitting patterns from Noriko Ho & Cassie Munksgard, our first-ever Tunisian crochet pattern from Toni Lipsey, and an incredibly versatile debut sewing pattern from Vivian Shao Chen!
