Buckeye Burl [STABILIZED]

Buckeye Burl Pen Blanks [Stabilized] - Premium American Figured Wood Product Specifications Blank Sizes: Each pen blank is a minimum of 5" long × 3/4" × 3/4" square. Material: Genuine Buckeye Burl (Aesculus spp.) — Fully Stabilized with Cactus Juice. Material Story These stunning pen blanks are crafted from premium **Buckeye Burl**, one of the most colorful and intricately figured burls native to North America. Each piece displays wild, swirling grain with dramatic eyes, feathers, and bold color variations. The blanks vary wildly in appearance — featuring vibrant grays, creamy blondes, rich oranges, reds, and deep purples. No two blanks are alike. Because raw Buckeye Burl is naturally unstable, we fully stabilize every blank using **Cactus Juice stabilizing resin**. This premium stabilization process locks in the beautiful figure, eliminates movement, increases density, and allows for smooth, clean turning with a high-gloss finish that beautifully highlights the intricate patterns. The result is a stable, eye-catching blank that turns like a dream and produces show-stopping, one-of-a-kind pens. About Buckeye Burl Wood Buckeye Burl comes from the Buckeye tree (primarily Ohio Buckeye or California Buckeye). It is highly prized by woodturners for its exceptional figure and vibrant natural colors. The burl forms on the lower trunk and roots of the tree, creating dense clusters of dormant buds that result in complex, chaotic grain patterns. When stabilized with Cactus Juice, Buckeye Burl becomes one of the most visually striking domestic burls available. The stabilization process not only strengthens the wood but also intensifies and preserves the stunning array of colors — often revealing bright pinks, oranges, yellows, grays, and blondes with contrasting dark streaks. With excellent workability after stabilization, Buckeye Burl is a favorite for high-end pens, knife handles, bowls, and other decorative turnings. Its bold figure and color make it stand out in any collection. Owning a stabilized Buckeye Burl blank means working with a true American natural wonder — a rare and beautiful piece of domestic burl that transforms into one-of-a-kind, conversation-starting finished pieces.
