Ghost Max 4 (Women)

Maximum Cushion, Effortless Miles — The Ghost Max, Refined Again The Brooks Ghost Max 4 is a women's max-cushioned daily trainer built for runners and walkers who want a soft, protective, rockered ride that soaks up miles without asking much of the legs. The fourth iteration of one of Brooks' most comfort-forward designs carries over the proven nitrogen-infused DNA Loft v3 midsole that made the Ghost Max a go-to for tired-leg days and recovery runs, while delivering meaningful improvements: a redesigned engineered mesh upper that is lighter and more breathable, a slightly reduced overall weight, and continued refinement of the GlideRoll rocker geometry for smooth, assisted heel-to-toe transitions with every stride. Whether heading out for easy miles, logging a long walk, recovering after a hard workout, or spending an extended shift on your feet — the Ghost Max 4 is the shoe you reach for when comfort is the only thing that matters. Redesigned Engineered Mesh Upper — Lighter, More Breathable, More Secure The Ghost Max 4 arrives with a fully redesigned engineered mesh upper that is lighter and more breathable than previous versions — a meaningful improvement for warm-weather wear and longer efforts where heat management becomes a factor. The upper features a secure, close-fitting construction that wraps the foot comfortably without creating pressure points, and the redesigned heel fit provides improved lockdown that keeps the foot firmly in place even through the shoe's pronounced rocker geometry. A well-padded tongue and heel collar add plush, cushioned comfort from the first step, and the standard lacing system allows for a fully personalized, adjustable fit across different foot widths and shapes. A deep footbed with a thick, cushioned insole provides generous space for custom orthotics, making the Ghost Max 4 a particularly strong choice for those who require additional foot support or have prescription insoles. Available in standard and wide (D), widths — note that the shoe runs slightly short, so sizing up a half size is recommended for the best fit. DNA Loft v3 Midsole, GlideRoll Rocker, Broad Stable Base — Maximum Cushion, Smooth Ride The heart of the Ghost Max 4 is its full-length nitrogen-infused DNA Loft v3 midsole — Brooks' softest, most cushioned foam compound, delivering a plush, impact-absorbing underfoot experience that excels on recovery runs, long walks, and easy-effort days when leg protection and comfort take priority over speed. At 40mm of heel stack height and 34mm in the forefoot, the Ghost Max 4 sits firmly in the max-cushion category, providing exceptional impact absorption with measured shock absorption results that show meaningful improvement over the Ghost Max 3 — particularly in the heel. The GlideRoll rocker geometry creates a smooth, guided heel-to-toe transition that encourages forward momentum without requiring the runner to work for it — a rolling sensation that reviewers consistently describe as effortless and confidence-inspiring. The broad, stable base of the Ghost Max 4 adds inherent stability that works for neutral gaits and mild overpronators alike, and provides a sure-footed platform for walking as well as running. A segmented rubber outsole provides reliable traction and durability across road and walking surfaces.
