Bromeliads can add an exotic touch to any home. Growing a Bromeliad as a houseplant is easy and they add interesting texture and color to any room. They make a very special and unique gift. Bromeliads tend to be easy to grow with vivid, long-lasting blooms & ornamental foliage. Provide bright indirect light without direct sun exposure for an extended period of time. Maintain optimal humidity and keep in a well-ventilated area. Bromeliads love rich, organic matter in their soil, but must have good drainage. Use a cactus/succulent potting soil, with some orchid bark, worm castings, & compost. Keep the cup, which is center part aka the tank or reservoir, 1/4 to 1/2 full of water at most. Water thoroughly when soil is dry from surface. Use a balanced liquid fertilizer or an all-purpose orchid food diluted at 1/2 strength. Bromeliads only bloom once, but the flower lasts several months. Pups (new plants) will appear off the base of the mother plant. Remove the pup and replant when they start developing roots. Approximate Size: 18"
