Bright Minds - Colombia

Bright Minds from Greater Goods Roasting is a celebration of skill, community, and exceptional terroir from southern Huila, Colombia. Grown by 85 women farmers of the Asobombo association near the stunning Salto de Bordones waterfall at 1600-2000 meters elevation, this washed lot showcases Caturra and Castillo varieties at their crowd-pleasing best. The result? A remarkably easy-drinking cup that reveals something new with every sip—tangerine brightness, milk chocolate richness, toffee sweetness, and a subtle cherry finish that lingers just long enough to make you reach for another. The Asobombo cooperative represents nearly 170 young producers—almost half of them women—who are reshaping Huila's coffee landscape by blending traditional customs with modern agricultural innovation. The premiums these 85 women earn from their specialty-grade coffee are reinvested directly into farm infrastructure and processing experimentation, creating a ripple effect that benefits over 300 family members and strengthening their community for generations to come. Tasting NotesExpect juicy tangerine acidity balanced by buttery body and fudge-like sweetness. The cup opens with bright citrus that quickly mellows into milk chocolate, nougat, and toffee notes. A whisper of cherry appears on the finish, adding complexity without overshadowing the coffee's fundamental sweetness and approachability. The medium body feels creamy and satisfying—neither heavy nor thin—with a clean, washed-process clarity that lets each flavor shine. Brew MethodsThis versatile coffee performs beautifully across brewing methods. Pour over (Chemex, V60, or Kalita) highlights the tangerine brightness and layered sweetness. French press amplifies the buttery body and chocolate notes. As drip coffee, it's a reliable daily drinker that stays interesting cup after cup. While it's roasted primarily for filter methods, adventurous espresso drinkers will find it pulls a sweet, fruit-forward shot that works well in milk drinks.
