1963 Strat Pickup

The Golden Era Of Stratocaster Tone Experience the most powerful and authoritative vintage Strat sound. The 1963 Strat Pickup captures a pivotal moment in Stratocaster history when Fender began slightly overwinding their pickups to deliver more authority and push. This wasn't the delicate, glassy tone of the late '50s—this was the sound that gave Stratocasters the muscle and presence to compete in louder rock bands while maintaining that unmistakable vintage clarity and articulation. The sound you'll get: Bold, authoritative tone with more output and midrange push than earlier Strats, glassy highs with enhanced presence and cut, and rich harmonic overtones that bloom under overdrive. The slight overwind delivers exceptional string-to-string balance, punchy attack that sits perfectly in a band mix, and dynamic touch sensitivity that goes from crystalline cleans to sweet, singing overdrive. This is the Strat tone that launched blues-rock into the stratosphere. Why it's unique: In 1963, Fender made a subtle but significant change—slightly overwinding their Stratocaster pickups to give players more authority and sonic push. This created the sweet spot between vintage clarity and modern power that made '63 Strats legendary. Rather than just copying random vintage specs, we've focused on recreating this intentional overwind with precise string and output balance from pickup to pickup, bringing out the articulation, touch sensitivity, and authoritative presence heard on the best examples from 1963. The Brickhouse 1963 Strat uses period-correct materials and winding techniques to deliver that perfect balance of vintage clarity with added muscle and authority. It's not a lucky accident; it's a pickup deliberately designed from decades of experience to deliver the legendary 1963 Stratocaster sound—the year Strats got serious—with consistency and reliability you can count on.
