Brass Lantern Foamy Bells

Brass Lantern Foamy Bells (Heucherella 'Brass Lantern')Brass Lantern Foamy Bells brightens shade and part shade beds with glowing, brassy gold foliage that looks lit from within. The clumping habit fills in quickly, creating a tidy mound that makes borders feel finished even when little else is blooming. In early summer, slender stems carry airy white flowers above the foliage, adding height without heaviness. If you want season-long leaf color that plays well with hostas, ferns, and woodland perennials, this plant is an easy fit. Distinctive FeaturesThis heucherella forms a bold mound of maple-like leaves in brassy gold tones with dark red veining, and the foliage can deepen toward olive and cinnamon shades in cooler weather. Upright flower stems rise above the leaves in early summer, carrying small, bell-like white flowers that add a light, floating layer. The overall habit stays dense and composed, making it useful as a consistent color anchor in mixed plantings. Mature size is typically about 18 to 24 inches tall and 18 to 24 inches wide, with flower stems reaching about 28 inches tall. Growing Conditions Sun: Part shade is ideal, with full sun tolerated in cooler climates when moisture is consistent. Soil: Organically rich, well-drained soil that holds even moisture without staying soggy. Water: Medium, keep soil evenly moist, especially during heat and when grown in brighter light. Zones: USDA Zones 4 to 9. Notable Traits: Evergreen to semi-evergreen in mild climates, and deer resistance is often reported. Ideal Uses Focal Point: Use a bold mound as a focal point in a shaded bed where the gold foliage and red veining can brighten the scene all season. Woodland Borders: Plant in drifts under high-branching shrubs and trees to add warm foliage color and a finished look. Containers: Grow in pots in bright shade to bring the foliage color close to patios and entryways. Edging: Line paths and bed fronts for a tidy, colorful mound that stays composed with simple care. Low Maintenance Care Watering: Maintain even moisture, since drying out can lead to scorch and general foliage decline. Grooming: Remove tired leaves as needed to keep the mound clean and attractive. Deadheading: Cut off spent flower stems after bloom to keep the plant tidy and refocus energy on foliage. Mulching: Apply a light organic mulch to conserve moisture and protect shallow roots, keeping mulch off the crown. Why Choose Brass Lantern Foamy Bells? Season-Long Color: Brassy gold foliage with dark red veining keeps beds bright from spring through fall. Shade Performance: Thrives in part shade where many colorful plants struggle to stay vibrant. Neat Habit: Forms a dense mound, typically 18 to 24 inches tall and 18 to 24 inches wide, that looks finished without constant shaping. Easy Pairing: Warm foliage tones blend beautifully with greens, silvers, and deep purples in woodland designs. Brass Lantern Foamy Bells is most effective when repeated, letting the glowing foliage create rhythm and lift through shaded plantings. Pair it with bold-leaved companions for contrast, or use it as a warm bridge between cooler greens and silvers. Keep moisture steady and give it a little protection from harsh afternoon sun in hot areas, and it will stay lush and colorful. If you want dependable foliage impact with a refined summer bloom accent, this plant delivers.
