Boyd & Blair Silver Rum

Boyd & Blair Silver Rum is a handcrafted American white rum that combines classic rum character with the meticulous small-batch philosophy of Pennsylvania’s Boyd & Blair distillery. Clean yet flavorful, it delivers soft notes of butterscotch, vanilla, and subtle tropical fruit with a smooth, balanced finish. Crafted with patience and premium ingredients, this rum stands out as a versatile spirit equally suited to classic cocktails or simply served over ice with a twist of lime. Origins & Craftsmanship Boyd & Blair Silver Rum is produced by Pennsylvania Pure Distilleries in Glenshaw, Pennsylvania, the craft distillery best known for its acclaimed Boyd & Blair Potato Vodka. The rum reflects the same commitment to local sourcing, slow production, and small-batch distillation that defines the distillery’s approach to spirits. The spirit begins with premium baking molasses sourced from Pennsylvania, chosen for its purity and depth of flavor. Instead of rushing the process, the distillery carefully thins the molasses with warm water to protect delicate sugars and prevent scorching before fermentation begins. Fermentation is intentionally extended, lasting approximately 21 to 28 days in open-air tanks, allowing deeper flavor development compared with many commercial rum fermentations. After fermentation, the rum is double distilled in copper pot stills, producing a spirit that is both clean and characterful. The result is a clear, unaged silver rum bottled at 40% ABV (80 proof), designed to highlight the natural sweetness of molasses and the purity of the distillation process. This careful, hands-on production style gives Boyd & Blair Silver Rum a richer and more expressive profile than many neutral white rums, making it a favorite among craft cocktail bartenders and rum enthusiasts. Critics Reviews Spirit Journal critic F.
