Booker's Black Wax 1991

Experience the audacious character of Booker's True Barrel Bourbon 2020, a 7-year, 5-month aged expression bottled at a formidable 126.6 proof. This uncut, unfiltered masterpiece delivers an intense symphony of caramelized sweetness, rich oak, and captivating spice, a true testament to Booker Noe's legacy. Tasting Notes Nose: A powerful and complex aroma, immediately introducing notes of deeply caramelized sugar, rich vanilla bean, and toasted oak. Beneath this sweetness emerges a subtle spice blend of cinnamon and nutmeg, intertwined with hints of dried dark fruit, perhaps dates or figs. There's a faint earthiness, almost leathery, suggesting its significant age and proof. Palate: The entry is bold and immediate, showcasing the high proof as it fills the mouth with warmth without being overly harsh. The oak influence is paramount, presenting as well-integrated char and subtle smoky characteristics. Intense sweetness unfolds with brown sugar, molasses, and dark chocolate, balanced by robust baking spices—clove, black pepper, and a touch of red chili. A rich, chewy texture coats the palate, revealing undertones of roasted nuts, worn leather, and a hint of dark cherry at the mid-palate. Finish: Long, lingering, and exceptionally warming. The finish is dominated by sweet oak and a persistent, pleasant spice that gradually fades into a final note of rich caramel and dark vanilla. There's a drying sensation from the tannins, inviting another sip, and a subtle interplay of coffee bean and tobacco leaf that makes for a sophisticated and memorable conclusion.
