Private Library & Book Collecting - Humphreys & Slater - Paperback

Paperback Edition - Two books in one! The Private Library by Arthur Lee Humphreys - This is a no-holds-barred sermon on being the owner of books and a curator of a library, mostly of private libraries - but the knowledge is applicable to any collection of paper products. Including an amazing amount of information from bookbinding to shelf heights to room temperatures - everything needed to be a better book, or library, owner, and caretaker. Book Collecting: A Guide for Amateurs by J. Herbert Slater - This is a lovely collection of information on the history of books, the making of books, and - most importantly - the careful details of discovering and evaluating books as a true collector, including such overlooked details as individual some Press marks and logos. An absolute must for any bibliophile who wishes to create an exquisite collection of books or for any librarian who needs to have in-depth knowledge of the many works they care for or curate.
