A: Chinquapin (Quercus muehlenbergii) is a species of white oak that is less common for barrel making than standard American white oak. It is known for its tight grain and for imparting rich, spicy, and distinctively fruity notes to the whiskey aged in it. Q: What is the significance of the varied wood seasoning times? A: Air-drying and seasoning wood staves for an extended period (up to 5 years in this case) before they are coopered into a barrel breaks down the wood's tannins and develops more complex flavor compounds. By blending bourbons aged in barrels with different seasoning times, the distillers can create a more layered and nuanced final product. Q: How is this different from a standard Michter's bourbon? A: Bomberger's is part of Michter's Legacy Series and is a distinct, small-batch product. It differs from the standard Michter's US*1 Bourbon in its specific use of Chinquapin oak, its higher 108 proof, and its status as a limited, annual release with a unique profile each year. Q: Is this a limited release? A: Yes, the Bomberger's Declaration is a limited, annual release. The specific blend and barrel characteristics change each year, making every vintage a unique collector's item. Q: Where can I purchase the Bomberger's Declaration 2025 Release?
