Bodhi Leaf necklace (pendant)

While in Bodh Gaya, Bihar, India I sketched lamas underneath the legendary Bodhi tree where Prince Siddhartha (Buddha) had attained enlightenment centuries ago. One day while sitting under the tree, a leaf fell onto my sketchbook. As I examined the leaf, I found it perfect on one side and dotted on the other. Wear either side close to your heart to remind you of your direction. The only direction of change is from one physical form to another. The one direction is freedom, ultimate liberation, and the transcendence of boundaries. The other direction is security, rootedness, comfort, and tradition—the self that will not turn away from the earth. Materials: Argentium sterling silver Dimensions (all sizes approximate): 3.75 in.
