Winemaker Notes Bodegas Juan Gil selected Monastrell grapes from old vineyards with low yields, planted on limestone and very stony soils, that are farmed in environmentally friendly way. The result is a wine with a deep red color, abundant ripe fruit aromas and a long spicy well-balanced finish, with toasted notes provided by the French wood. Critical Acclaim 92pts Robert Parker The 2020 Juan Gil (silver label) feels young and primary, ripe and with notes of young wine, berries, herbs and a touch of beeswax and honey. It has 15% alcohol and is juicy and full-bodied, with integrated oak and with grape flavors in the finish. 90pts James Suckling Rich and fruity, but also deep, with ripe blackberries, figs, spice and dark chocolate on the nose. Just a hint of dried fruit here. This is restrainedly generous with a medium to full body, showing creamy tannins and a flavorful finish. A very solid monastrell. From organically grown grapes.
