Board Defense Borate Powder - 20 Lb. Pail

When mixed with water and sprayed on wood, Board Defense Borate Powder creates crystals that penetrate into wood fibers, making the wood poisonous to wood-ingesting insects. It is a cost-friendly borate-based wood preservative that protects your wood and log homes from costly damage caused by wood-destroying insects and organisms, moisture and weather-induced rot and decay, and fungi growth. Board Defense Borate Features and Benefits: • Kills wood ingesting insects such as termites and powder-post beetles • Prevents and protects against moisture-related decay and fungi • Easy to mix and apply • More affordable and less toxic than glycol-based borate products Board Defense Product Uses, Applications, & Tips: • For use on exterior and interior bare wood, including above-ground wood surfaces such as logs, timbers, dimensional lumber, siding, etc. • Do NOT use on wood that already has a stain or coating, because the stain acts as a barrier preventing full penetration and retention of the borate. Board Defense should be used on clean, bare wood to ensure necessary penetration and a full shell of protection. When applied first/underneath, Board Defense will not interfere with the adhesion of most wood stains and coatings. The surface should be completely dry before applying any coating. • This product can be applied via brushing, spraying, dipping, kerf-flooding, or hole flooding. • Board Defense should not be applied to areas where surface water is present. If wood is vulnerable to direct moisture contact, water-repellent finish should be applied after Board Defense treatment. Disclaimer (Carpenter Bees): This product does NOT protect against carpenter bees (as they do not actually ingest wood, and as a result, are not affected by borate treatments). Board Defense Borate Hazards/Cautions: Board Defense Borate Powder is harmful if swallowed and can cause eye irritation. As a precaution, avoid contact with eyes or clothing, and wash hands before eating, drinking, chewing gum, or using the toilet.
