'BLUES' Luther"Guitar Junior"Johnson

Product Features ORIGINAL 24"x30" Acrylic painting on canvas by Valerie Doyon Framing options available. Unframed ($800) On the back of the canvas I wrote a brief history of Luther's music history with Magic Sam and Muddy Waters Before living in Rockport I lived in Antrim, NH 1997-2002.  There was an infamous Blues tavern called the Rynborn that musicians from around New England would come to perform. It was a gem, soulful musicians performing right beside you.   I worked at a girls shelter and a gas station nearby.  I would go to the Rynborn at night several days a week after work to rejuvenate my soul, listen to incredible music, play pool and mingle.   Luther Guitar Jr Johnson played there frequently and when I worked the local gas station during the day, he would visit several times a day getting only $3 worth of gas at a time (he said so he could visit more 😆)   Luther was an extremely talented and charming man, we were all so lucky he chose to live in Antrim for years.  We got to experience a Blues King that drew in other musicians from around the country.  The Rynborn was the heart of the town and Luther had a large part of it's soulful beat. I felt compelled to create a painting of him in 2005 shortly after I left to open Soulstice Shop in Rockport, Ma.  I hope you enjoy this piece as I loved creating it.
