Patriot Blueberry Bush

The Patriot Highbush Blueberry (Vaccinium corymbosum 'Patriot') is beautiful and productive and is known for its large, round fruit. A little smaller than other varieties, this variety winters well, and the deep green foliage of summer turns from brilliant orange to burgundy in the fall, adding a beautiful bit of color to your landscape. In May, Patriot will be covered with clusters of white bell-shaped blossoms, pulling in pollinators from near and far. This Northern Highbush produces large crops of big, dusky blue fruit with firm flesh and plenty of flavor! While self-fruitful, planting with other Northern Highbush varieties that ripen early and late season allows you to enjoy an extended of extremely nutritious, high-quality Blueberries! This variety ripens mid-season and then again intermittently all growing season, giving you multiple harvests as your bushes consistently produce large crops for you and your family to enjoy. Once picked, they store well in the refrigerator, letting you enjoy them fresh for weeks. Add to your breakfast cereal, to yogurt, preserves, or bake in a pie or muffins. Planting and Application: Enjoy the beautiful fruit and foliage, but you will also be helping wildlife! Patriot is still tall enough to use as an edible hedge if you choose! The Patriot Blueberry Bush is an upstanding garden addition that will reward you with 3 seasons of beauty, food, flowers and fall color! Create delectable privacy with great fruit at your fingertips plus shade for your garden beds and borders. Use as backdrops to vegetable gardens or lovely foundation plantings, while filling your fruit bowl at the same time! Preferring moist soil, plant it where the soil is damp to wet but well-drained. Provide lots of moisture and fertility, plus a healthy 3-4 inch thick layer of arborist mulch, since the shallow, fibrous roots need protection and insulation. Prune when dormant to control shape and size, and keep the interior open to sun and air penetration.
