The Blue Mariner’s Compass offers a central focus of the compass star. It is then framed across the top of the quilt with thousands of tiny squares. There is slight movement around the Compass with the wave-like quality of the pattern. With the soft blues and browns, this king-size quilt has a cohesive and symmetrical look. Florals and intricate fabrics are found throughout for added depth in the Mariner’s Compass. The border is a scalloped edge with a blue fabric with small white flowers. This quilt is finalized with a light brown backing that has leaves in a shadowed appearance. ABOUT THIS PATTERN The Mariner’s Compass pattern has been made as early as 1798. It consists of a circle surrounded by long triangles. Sometimes, four triangles are longer to represent North, South, East, and West. The difficulty of the pattern lies in keeping each triangle point sharp. The quilting accompanying this pattern matches the difficulty of the compass itself. SIZE King Size — 120 inches wide x 120 inches long Sized at 120″ x 120″, this quilt provides approximately 22 inches of drop on each side of a standard king mattress, generous coverage at the foot of the bed, and ample room for a comfortable pillow tuck—eliminating the need for coordinating shams.
