They are particularly abundant in estuarine and brackish waters, such as the Chesapeake Bay in Maryland and Virginia, where they are a significant part of the ecosystem Daily Bag Limit: In most areas of Florida, the daily bag limit for blue crabs was 10 gallons of whole crabs per person per day. It's important to note that the bag limit is typically measured in volume (gallons) rather than a specific number of crabs because crabs come in various sizes, and this method helps protect female crabs and undersized crabs. State Waters Harvest Seasons: In Florida, blue crabbing is open year-round, meaning you can harvest blue crabs throughout the year. However, there are regulations in place to protect female crabs with egg masses (sponge crabs).
