Blue and Red Log Cabin

This Blue and Red Log Cabin offers a central expansive gaze as the squares create larger diamonds. The soft color palette can lighten a room, additionally with the pop of red that can be used as an accent color. With the one strip of red fabric, it really brings out the square log cabin shape yet doesn’t take away from the overall diamond design for a cohesive and symmetric quilt. This queen-sized Log Cabin has a border with shades of blue and tiny floral details. The quilt is finalized with a blue shadowing fabric that appears like clouds. ABOUT THIS PATTERN Log Cabin quilts date back to when Abraham Lincoln was running for office. Because women could not vote, they made log cabin quilts to show their support for him as he lived in a log cabin. During the era of the Underground Railroad, a log cabin quilt hanging in the window of a Northern home indicated a safe house. The contrast of light and dark fabrics represents the joys and sorrows in life. Within the design, the center of the square represents the fireplace in a log cabin home.
