Blizzard Black Pearl 84 Ski

Women's Titanal Frontside Ski, 84 mm Waist Blizzard Black Pearl 84 Ski The Blizzard Black Pearl 84 is a women's frontside all-mountain ski for skiers who spend nearly all of their time on groomed snow and want the edge grip to match. A 124.5-84-107.5 mm shape at 170 cm and a 10 m radius at 146 cm make this the tightest-turning ski in Blizzard's all-mountain range, and two sheets of titanal in the W.S.D. layup keep the edge locked when the surface goes hard. Six lengths from 146 cm to 176 cm cover a wide span of skiers, and at 1,730 g per ski at 170 cm the narrow waist keeps edge-to-edge movement quick without feeling flimsy underfoot. Expert Review Shape and construction specs verified against the FW26/27 Blizzard catalog by CCBB staff. Is This the Right Ski for You? Best For Intermediate to expert women who ski groomed snow almost exclusively and want a narrow, quick-turning ski with metal in the layup for edge grip. Consider Another Ski If You ski off-piste regularly, want float in soft snow, or want one ski for everything, since the Black Pearl 84 is a frontside ski built for firm groomers. An 84 mm waist gets from edge to edge faster than an 88, which is what makes this ski feel easy on a busy trail. Two sheets of titanal are unusual on a ski this narrow and this light-feeling, and they are the reason the edge holds on refrozen groomers. The W.S.D. layup tunes flex and torsion for lighter weight, so the short lengths still load and rebound properly. Best Uses Groomed snow, most days, most of the day Short to medium turns on firm and refrozen surfaces Firm bumps and tight trails Skiers building confidence who still want a ski with edge grip Second skis for a quiver where something wider covers the soft days Ski Selection Advice We fit narrow frontside skis by how much the skier wants the ski to turn for them. The Black Pearl 84 turns a lot: 10 m at 146 cm and 13 m at 164 cm. A skier who likes a long arc on open groomers should look at the 176 cm at 15.5 m or move to the Black Pearl 88 instead, because the short radius on this ski is a feature rather than a compromise. An 84 mm waist needs a 90 mm brake at minimum, since brakes are not made narrow enough to sit closer. At 1,730 g per ski at 170 cm this ski carries real mass for its width, which is where the edge hold comes from. Length and setup guidance from CCBB staff. Ratings are derived from verified construction and shape specs rather than an on-snow test. 📏 Technical Specifications Manufacturer specs · Click to expand Shape and Sizing Dimensions 124.5-84-107.5 mm (170 cm) Turn Radius 10 m (146 cm), 11 m (152 cm), 12 m (158 cm), 13 m (164 cm), 14 m (170 cm), 15.5 m (176 cm) Lengths 146, 152, 158, 164, 170, 176 cm Rocker Profile Rockered tip, camber underfoot, rockered tail Weight 1,730 g per ski (170 cm) Construction and Setup Core Trueblend All Mountain woodcore, beech and poplar Laminate W.S.D. Minimum 90 mm brake width for the 84 mm waist. Brake Width 90 mm minimum, sold separately Compare the Blizzard Black Pearl 84 Black Pearl 84 vs. Blizzard Black Pearl 88 The Black Pearl 88 is the same family four millimetres wider, at 127.5-88-109.5 mm with radii from 11 m to 16.5 m. It gives up a little quickness for genuine range in softer snow. Skiers who leave the groomers regularly should be on the 88. Shop the Blizzard Black Pearl 88 Ski Black Pearl 84 vs. Blizzard Black Pearl 94 Two ends of the same collection. The Black Pearl 94 runs 132.5-94-114.5 mm at 170 cm with a five-length run from 152 cm, and it is built for mixed and soft snow. The 84 is the frontside end and the only one that reaches a 10 m radius. Shop the Blizzard Black Pearl 94 Ski Black Pearl 84 vs. Kastle MX83 Both are narrow metal-laminate frontside skis. The Black Pearl 84 is tuned for a wide range of skier weights across six lengths with a short radius; the Kastle MX83 is a firmer, more demanding carver aimed at a narrower band of strong skiers. Ability and appetite for work decide it. Shop the Kastle MX83 Ski Common Questions Who should buy the Blizzard Black Pearl 84? The Blizzard Black Pearl 84 suits intermediate through expert women who ski groomed snow nearly all the time. An 84 mm waist and radii from 10 m to 15.5 m make it quick edge to edge and eager to turn, and two sheets of titanal give it the edge hold that firm and refrozen snow demands. What bindings work with the Blizzard Black Pearl 84? The Blizzard Black Pearl 84 ships flat and accepts any alpine binding rated for the skier's weight, height and ability. Use a 90 mm brake as the minimum, since brakes are not offered narrow enough to match an 84 mm waist exactly. There are no tech fittings and no skin attachment, so pin bindings are not an option. Is an 84 mm ski too narrow to be an all-mountain ski? For most skiers here, yes, and the category name oversells it. Blizzard lists the Black Pearl 84 as all-mountain, but an 84 mm waist with a 124.5 mm shovel is a frontside ski in practice. It will get you through a soft patch, and it is not the ski to own if you plan to ski off the groomers regularly. How much does the Blizzard Black Pearl 84 weigh? 1,730 g per ski at 170 cm, which is substantial for an 84 mm ski and is a large part of why it holds an edge the way it does. Blizzard prints the figure without a reference length in the current catalog, so quotes elsewhere may be taken against a different size. Check which length a ski weight refers to before comparing two skis. What length Blizzard Black Pearl 84 should I buy? Match the radius to your trails. The 146 cm and 152 cm lengths give 10 m and 11 m for short quick turns; 158 cm and 164 cm sit at 12 m and 13 m; 170 cm and 176 cm open to 14 m and 15.5 m. Because each length has its own core, the short sizes are designed rather than trimmed. Can the Blizzard Black Pearl 84 be used for touring? No. This is an alpine ski with a titanal layup, full ABS sidewalls and no tail notch for a skin attachment, and there are no tech fittings. It belongs on lifts with an alpine binding. Our Verdict The Blizzard Black Pearl 84 is the frontside end of this collection and it is honest about it. An 84 mm waist with radii from 10 m at 146 cm to 15.5 m at 176 cm turns more readily than anything else Blizzard puts in the all-mountain range, and two sheets of titanal in the W.S.D. layup give it edge hold that a narrow ski at this weight has no business having. Six lengths cover a wide span of skiers. Buy it if the groomers are where you actually ski, and buy the 88 or the 94 if they are not.
