Blizzard Anomaly 94 Alpine Ski

Titanal All-Mountain Ski, 94 mm Waist Blizzard Anomaly 94 Alpine Ski The Blizzard Anomaly 94 is a resort all-mountain ski for advanced and expert skiers who want one ski for firm mornings and softer afternoons. A 132.5-94-114.5 mm shape at 182 cm adds six millimetres underfoot over the Anomaly 88, which buys float and forgiveness in chop without giving up the two sheets of titanal that make this family hold a line. Radius runs 14.5 m at 164 cm to 19.5 m at 188 cm, longer than the 88 at every length, so the Anomaly 94 wants room to work, and at 2,150 g per ski at 182 cm it has the mass to stay composed once it is running. Expert Review Shape and construction specs verified against the FW26/27 Blizzard catalog by CCBB staff. Is This the Right Ski for You? Best For Advanced to expert resort skiers who want a mid-90s all-mountain ski with metal in the layup, used across groomers, chop and moderate off-piste on the same day. Consider Another Ski If You want a dedicated carver, a light touring ski, or a playful park and powder ski, since the Anomaly 94 is a directional titanal ski with a long radius. The segmented FluxForm laminate damps the ski underfoot while leaving the tip and tail free to twist, so a 94 mm ski this heavy still comes around. Radius spans 14.5 m to 19.5 m across five lengths, which is a wide enough range that the size choice genuinely changes the ski. Beech concentrated underfoot and poplar toward the ends gives the flex a clear shape rather than one stiffness end to end. Best Uses One-ski resort quivers in a mixed-conditions snowpack Groomers at speed with a medium to long turn shape Cut-up snow and afternoon chop Moderate off-piste and soft bumps Skiers moving up from an 88 mm waist who want more room in soft snow Ski Selection Advice We size a mid-90s titanal ski by how much space the skier has to use it. The Anomaly 94 carries a longer radius than the 88 at every length, from 14.5 m at 164 cm to 19.5 m at 188 cm, so a skier working tight terrain should stay shorter than instinct suggests and a skier on open groomers should not be shy about 182 cm or 188 cm. The 94 mm waist needs a 100 mm brake at minimum, which rules out some narrower brake options that would fit the 88. At 2,150 g per ski at 182 cm, pair it with a binding built for the load rather than the lightest option on the wall. Length and setup guidance from CCBB staff. Brake Width 100 mm minimum, sold separately Compare the Blizzard Anomaly 94 Alpine Anomaly 94 vs. Blizzard Anomaly 88 Same layup and core family, six millimetres apart underfoot. The Anomaly 88 runs 127.5-88-109.5 mm at 182 cm with an 18 m radius there; the 94 runs 132.5-94-114.5 mm and 18.5 m. Skiers who live on firm snow take the 88; skiers who see chop and soft snow regularly take the 94. Shop the Blizzard Anomaly 88 Ski Anomaly 94 vs. Blizzard Anomaly 102 The Anomaly 102 pushes the family into freeride width at 136-102-123 mm with an 18 m radius at its shortest 176 cm length and a four-length size run. The 94 stays usable on a groomer in a way the 102 does not, and reaches down to 164 cm. Shop the Blizzard Anomaly 102 Ski Anomaly 94 vs. Elan Ripstick 96 Two answers to the same width. The Anomaly 94 uses two sheets of titanal for damping and settles into a turn; the Ripstick uses a carbon-reinforced layup and asymmetric build for a lighter, livelier feel. Skiers who want the ski to absorb the snow take the Anomaly. Shop the Elan Ripstick 96 Ski Common Questions Who should buy the Blizzard Anomaly 94? The Blizzard Anomaly 94 suits advanced to expert resort skiers who want one ski for a mixed week. A 94 mm waist with two sheets of titanal holds an edge on firm snow and stays composed in chop, and the 14.5 m to 19.5 m radius range means there is a turn shape in the size run for most styles. What bindings work with the Blizzard Anomaly 94? The Blizzard Anomaly 94 ships flat and accepts any alpine binding rated for the skier's weight, height and ability. The 94 mm waist needs a brake of 100 mm or wider, and brakes come with the binding rather than the ski. This is an alpine ski with no tech fittings and no skin attachment, so pin bindings are not an option. How much does the Blizzard Anomaly 94 weigh? 2,150 g per ski at 182 cm. Blizzard's catalog prints the figure without a reference length, which is why quotes for this ski differ by a couple of hundred g depending on which size the seller had in hand. We established the reference by matching Blizzard's own published figures at named lengths, and 2,150 g is the 182 cm number. Should I size up or down on the Blizzard Anomaly 94? Size to the terrain. At 164 cm and 170 cm the radius is 14.5 m and 15.5 m, which suits tighter turns and busier trails. At 182 cm and 188 cm it opens to 18.5 m and 19.5 m and asks for open snow and speed. Each length is built on its own core, so the short lengths are designed skis rather than shortened ones. Is the Anomaly 94 wide enough for a powder day? It manages, but that is not its purpose. A 94 mm waist with a 132.5 mm shovel plus tip and tail rocker gives enough float for a few fresh inches over a firm base. On a genuinely deep day a ski over 100 mm underfoot will do less work for the same result. Can the Blizzard Anomaly 94 be used for touring? No. The Blizzard Anomaly 94 is an alpine ski with a titanal layup, full ABS sidewalls and no tail notch for a skin attachment. There are no tech fittings and the construction is not built for weight saving, so it belongs on lifts with an alpine binding. Our Verdict The Blizzard Anomaly 94 is the version of this family that suits most skiers most weeks. Two sheets of titanal in the segmented FluxForm layup over a length-specific Trueblend core give the damping that firm snow and chopped-up afternoon snow both reward, and the 94 mm waist is wide enough to stop the ski deflecting without turning it into a soft-snow specialist. Radius from 14.5 m to 19.5 m across five lengths makes the size choice a real decision rather than a formality. Skiers who want a sharper carve should look at the 88; skiers who want float should look past 100 mm.
