Blazeprince Peach

A Backyard Orchard Standout Prunus persica 'Blazeprince' is the kind of peach tree that turns a home gardener into a devoted fruit grower. The large, mostly red fruits with golden yellow freestone flesh are just as beautiful hanging on the branch as they are sliced over a bowl of ice cream. Ripening early to mid-season, Blazeprince arrives right when summer feels at its peak and the urge for a tree-ripened peach is strongest. Spring to Summer Interest The show starts in early spring when soft pink blossoms cover the bare branches, attracting early bees and other pollinators before a single leaf appears. As the flowers fade, the canopy fills with fresh green foliage and the small fruits begin to develop. By midsummer, those fruits deepen to a rich red blush and the branches bow slightly under their weight. The vigorous growth habit means the tree reaches 12 to 15 feet tall and wide, providing real presence in a home orchard or a large backyard planting. Fruit Quality and Uses Blazeprince produces freestone peaches, which means the flesh separates cleanly from the pit. That characteristic alone makes these fruit a favorite for canning, freezing, and fresh eating since there is no wrestling with the stone. The flesh is firm enough to hold up on a fresh fruit tray yet sweet and juicy when fully ripe. For the home cook, this variety handles peach preserves, cobblers, and pies beautifully.
