Blackberry Seeds are a sustainable ingredient as they are upcycled after seeds are separated out during jam making process. These seeds add great color dimension to your products and will not scratch the skin, rather gently exfoliate. You can use blackberry seeds in just about any type of exfoliating product base. They are great at stimulating circulation, making them very useful in daily facial scrubs and scalp treatments. They are also rich in natural vitamin C, increasing the anti-oxidant profile of your skincare formulas. Is blackberry seed exfoliant sustainable and eco-friendly? Our blackberry seed exfoliant is considered an upcycled ingredient as it is made of seeds that are a by-product of jam making. This creates a more sustainable process as the seeds are not discarded but rather saved and used for personal care applications. Are chemicals used in the process of making blackberry seed exfoliant? No chemicals are used. The seeds are separated out during the jam making process. Then they are ground, air dried, and filtered. What are the benefits for using in scalp and hair treatments? Scalp health has recently become prominent in the natural product industry for good reason. The massive amount of chemicals and products used in our hair accumulates over time and it is a great self-care step to remove these products every so often. Creating scalp scrubs and treatments is a great way to help have healthier hair and decrease the toxins sitting on the scalp. Blackberry Seeds can be a great addition to your scalp exfoliation process. You can use these in an oil based or conditioner based scalp scrub. Blackberry seeds help to promote circulation, helping to increase hair growth. Why use Blackberry Seeds in your facial scrubs? Blackberry seeds are rich in natural vitamin c and vitamin A. Vitamin C helps to brighten the skin, reducing sun and aging spots, and reducing dark spots. Vitamin A helps to fight free-radicals, reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and creating a more even skin tone. How often should you exfoliate your skin? There are two ways to exfoliate, by using chemical ingredients (AHA’s, glycolic acid, lactic acid, retinal, etc.) or by using physical ingredients (blackberry seeds, jojoba beads, pumice, salts, etc). Depending on skin type and customer’s desired result, you can use a physical exfoliating product every day as long as it is gentle and combined with hydrating ingredients. Chemical exfoliating products should only be used 2-4 times per week and should be gradually increased as the skin turns over. How to use Blackberry Seeds in your soap bars? Exfoliating soap bars are fantastic to help cleanse the skin and leave and more even skin tone. Plus, they are extra useful when you need to remove extra products from the skin such as sunscreen or dirt. Blackberry Seed Soap bars would be a great product to market with your sun protection products as an after sun and sea product. Exfoliating off the sunscreen and the salt from the ocean helps to protect the skin and helps to increase circulation boosting the healing effects after sun exposure. You’ll add the blackberry seeds to your soap bars after your soap has come to trace and before you pour into your molds. Suggested levels of usage is 0.5-2% by weight of blackberry seed per pound of oils for moderate exfoliation; double that for more intense exfoliation. You can blend in other exfoliants, such as jojoba beads and pumice if you want a greater level of scrub.
