Black Wizard Dahlia

This Black Wizard Dahlia produces striking 6–8" dark red cactus-form blooms with intricate, spiky petals that command attention in any garden or arrangement. This vigorous variety reaches 4 feet tall, making it an excellent choice for back-of-border placement or as a dramatic focal point. The deep crimson flowers are prized by florists and gardeners alike for their architectural form and rich color. Plant in full sun and well-draining soil for optimal performance throughout the growing season. How To Plant Dahlias To get your dahlias started, pick a sunny spot with soil that drains well. Dig a hole, lay the tuber flat, and cover it with soil about 3 inches deep. Hold off on watering for now. Once you spot some sprouts and a few leaves, it’s time to water, but keep it gentle to prevent root rot. It’s a smart  to put the stake next to the tuber at the same time of planting, so you don’t accidentally damage it later on. As the season goes on, give your dahlias some love with fertilizer and insect sprays to help them bloom beautifully and grow strong. In the fall, dig up the roots and store them over winter.
