Black Union Soldier

Juneteenth! On June 19, 1865, Union General Gordon Granger arrived in Galveston, Texas, with about 2,000 federal troops, much of whom were Black Union Soldiers to announce General Order No. 3, stating that all enslaved people were free. Texas was the most remote Confederate state with a low Union troop presence, so slavery had continued there despite the emancipation proclamation. Those soldiers arrival meant the end of slavery in the United States, as his order effectively freed the last remaining enslaved African Americans. This shirt represents the Black Union Soldiers that rode into Texas delivering the news that Black Americans no longer needed to be shackled, brutalized and enslaved by their slavers. With the Black American Heritage Flag waving as they took their freedom ride into Texas!  Get your shirt that embodies the same spirit of those soldiers who were eager to share the news with their fellow Black Americans that they are free! And that they now have the power to build up our own communities even as we do NOW.  How Does Shipping Work? After you place your order you will get an email/text confirmation.
