Black Tourmaline Logs

Black tourmaline is a grounding protection stone — an opaque, glossy-black variety of tourmaline (schorl) that naturally forms in long, columnar crystals. These logs are substantial, unpolished raw specimens showing the mineral's characteristic lengthwise striations and deep black color — a striking natural form for a shelf, doorway, or workspace. Because each log is natural, size, shape, and surface vary from piece to piece, so yours will be unique. Care & cleansingRaw tourmaline can be brittle along its natural striations, so handle logs gently and set them on a stable surface rather than an edge. Wipe with a soft, dry cloth; avoid soaking in water or using harsh chemicals. Cleanse it energetically with indirect moonlight, incense, or sound rather than water. Frequently asked questionsWhat is a black tourmaline log used for? It is traditionally kept near doorways, desks, or electronics for grounding and energetic protection — a decorative, symbolic display piece, not a health product. Is a raw tourmaline log fragile? It's a hard mineral (7–7.5 Mohs) but can be brittle along its natural striations, so set it on a stable, padded surface and avoid dropping it. Can a black tourmaline log get wet? Brief contact is fine, but avoid soaking it or using harsh chemicals — wipe it clean with a dry cloth instead. How do I cleanse and recharge it? Use indirect moonlight, incense smoke, or sound. Water and salt aren't necessary and can stress the raw striated surface over time. How can I tell if it's real black tourmaline? Genuine schorl logs show fine, parallel lengthwise striations along the length of the crystal and a consistent opaque black — not a dyed or glassy look. What pairs well with a black tourmaline log? Many place it alongside a Black Tourmaline Bracelet for protection at home and on the go, or near selenite for cleansing. Explore more in protection and grounding.
