Built from the ground up specifically for foiling by Black Project, the global leader in paddle innovation, the FoilX represents a revolutionary step forward in paddle design. With expert feedback and rigorous testing from foiling pioneers like Andrew Gibbons, Gabriella Bella, Jack Ho, Finn Spencer, and Jeffrey Spencer, the FoilX SUP paddle is engineered to help you get up on foil faster, stay up longer, and push your performance to new heights. What Makes the FoilX the Best SUP Foiling Paddle? ✅ Designed Exclusively for Foiling Unlike multi-discipline paddles, the FoilX is 100% focused on SUP foiling, optimized for: Downwind SUP Foiling Surf SUP Foiling Flat Water SUP Foiling From the first paddle stroke to mid-foil recovery strokes between bumps, every detail of the FoilX is designed to support your ride. The low 9.5° blade angle, low-aspect blade outline, shallow scoop, and reduced blade volume combine to help you paddle with explosive cadence—so you can pop up on foil quicker and with fewer strokes. Performance Features That Set the FoilX Apart ⚙️ Moderate 9.5° Blade Angle The refined 9.5° blade angle hits the sweet spot between power and comfort. It offers: A smooth, forgiving paddle entry. Better paddle control under load. Increased comfort during long foil sessions. A higher cadence stroke rhythm ideal for foiling. This moderate angle makes the FoilX incredibly accessible for paddlers of all levels—whether you're a seasoned foil racer or just beginning your SUP foiling journey. 🧠 Leading Blade Technology with REACT+ (RE+T) At the heart of the FoilX is cutting-edge blade technology. Featuring a shallow scoop with extended dihedral edges, the FoilX ensures: Maximized forward thrust Stable and controlled water release Optimized blade responsiveness for high power output Utilizing REACT+ Technology (RE+T), the paddle blade includes two external carbon plates that amplify blade stiffness, energy return, and responsiveness—without adding weight. These precision-laminated reinforcements offer a finely tuned flex pattern based on blade size, matching performance to the paddler’s weight and power. Combine this with Power Ridge Technology (PRT) and Reduced Blade Volume Technology (RBVT), and you get a blade that is: Lightweight yet ultra-stiff. Durable under pressure. Hydrodynamically efficient. Whether you're pushing into the wind or navigating tight turns on foil, the FoilX gives you maximum output with minimal effort. 🦾 Explosive Acceleration and Cadence With extra surface area in the toe of the blade and reduced blade volume, the FoilX promotes shallow, high-cadence paddle strokes that: Allow faster lift-off into foil. Offer immediate acceleration when needed—especially helpful for staying on foil between waves. Enhance stroke rate without added fatigue. Every inch of the FoilX has been engineered for efficiency and power delivery, helping you rise on foil with fewer, faster paddle strokes. Built Around a Revolutionary Shaft System 🛠️ Tour Carbon Shaft: Lightweight, Ergonomic, and Responsive The Tour Carbon shaft series is a masterpiece of ergonomic and mechanical design. Constructed from 30T high modulus carbon, it delivers: Superior power transfer to the blade. Low swing weight for quicker stroke turnover. Ergonomic oval shape in the mid-section for secure hand positioning. A flex-tuned structure to reduce fatigue and improve paddle feel. Available in multiple flex ratings and lengths, this shaft can be fine-tuned to your: Height Weight Paddling style This modular shaft is a game-changer—ideal for racers and weekend foilers alike. Ergonomic PowerGrip Handle 🖐️ Award-Winning Hollow Carbon Handle Comfort and control start at the grip. The PowerGrip handle—an award-winning design—features: Ergonomic shaping for all-day comfort. Optimized paddle feel for superior control. Hollow carbon construction to reduce overall paddle weight. From long downwind runs to tight surf breaks, the PowerGrip ensures your hand-to-paddle connection is intuitive, secure, and powerful. Modular Design with Hot Glue Assembly 🔄 Easy Customization & Part Replacement With over seven years of R&D in collaboration with top foilers in Hawaii, Black Project developed a componentized system with hot glue assembly. This design philosophy offers: The ability to swap or replace components—shaft, blade, or handle—without replacing the entire paddle. Eco-conscious durability—better for the environment and your wallet. Simple home adjustments with no special tools required. Need to shorten your paddle? Want to upgrade to a stiffer shaft? It’s all possible with the FoilX. New X-Flex Foam Core: Strength Meets Flexibility 🧩 Durable, Lightweight Construction The FoilX’s blade incorporates the all-new X-Flex CNC foam core, offering: Greater impact resistance Lighter weight Improved strength-to-flex ratio This high-density foam pairs with advanced carbon laminates to deliver a blade that is not only feather-light but also built to withstand the harshest foiling conditions—from rocky reef breaks to full-send downwinders. Lifetime Part Replacement Policy Your paddle is your ride-or-die gear on the water—so Black Project offers a lifetime replacement policy for all modular components. You can: Replace worn or damaged parts at a reduced cost. Extend the life of your paddle over years of use. Enjoy peace of mind while you push your limits. Paddle Sizing & Shaft Options 🧠 Choose Your Ideal Blade Size Foiling demands specialized blade sizes. The FoilX lineup is pre-upscaled for foiling performance. Choose your blade based on your body weight and foiling needs: 📏 Select the Perfect Shaft Flex Use the chart below to find the right Tour Carbon shaft flex rating for your size. Remember: stiffer shafts (lower flex number) are better for heavier paddlers; more flexible shafts (higher number) suit lighter paddlers and increase comfort. 📐 SUP Foil Paddle Length Guide Pick the perfect paddle length based on your height. For high-volume boards or longer strokes, add 2.5–5cm above your height. Tip: Shorter paddles promote faster cadence and easier lift-off into foil. All FoilX paddles come hot-glued for easy length adjustments. Designed by Foilers, for Foilers Chris Freeman, founder of Black Project, puts it best: “We embarked on a mission to push the limits of design, materials, and manufacturing processes, aiming to create a paddle that would further revolutionize the way people think about paddles and foiling altogether – the FoilX is the culmination of this effort – a natural evolution in paddle design, with a specific focus, delivering substantial performance gains.” The FoilX isn’t just another paddle—it’s a purpose-built tool that makes SUP foiling easier, more fun, and more efficient.
