Black Maple Hill 16 Year Small Batch

Few American whiskey labels carry the mystique of Black Maple Hill, and the 16 Year Small Batch is a prime example of why. Released during the label's foundational production era, this bourbon was sourced through the Kentucky Bourbon Distillers network in Bardstown — with barrel selection overseen by Julian Van Winkle III himself. That pedigree alone places it among the most coveted releases in American whiskey collecting. At 16 years of age, the bourbon has had ample time to develop the layered complexity that extended maturation brings — think deep oak, dried fruit, and warm baking spice, rounded out by decades of slow interaction with charred Kentucky oak. Bottled at 47.5% ABV, it hits a sweet spot that preserves the full aromatic range without overwhelming the palate, making it just as rewarding to drink as it is to collect. The small batch format — a careful mingling of select barrels rather than a single cask — gives this release a consistency and approachability that makes every pour reliably exceptional. A bottle of Black Maple Hill 16 Year is both a piece of American whiskey history and a genuinely outstanding bourbon for the glass.
