Black Gold Jackfruit

The Black Gold Jackfruit is a popular cultivar originally selected in Queensland, Australia. It is favored by home orchardists for its adaptability, disease resistance, and reliable production. The tree forms a dense canopy and features narrow, elongated fruits that typically weigh between 14 and 20 pounds. Unlike many other varieties whose exterior spines flatten out upon maturity, the Black Gold retains sharp, prominent green fleshy spines even when fully ripe. Inside, the fruit yields deep-orange arils with a rich tropical aroma and strong flavor profile. The flesh is soft and contains minimal sticky latex, allowing growers to cleanly extract the pulp with minimal effort. Jackfruit is a large, evergreen tropical tree known for producing the world's largest fruit. It has a spiky, green exterior that encases sweet flesh when ripe. The fruit is versatile, offering both savory and sweet applications, with the unripe, green jackfruit often used as a meat substitute in vegetarian dishes. Jackfruit trees also provide shade and are prized for their timber. The seeds are also edible and can be roasted or boiled, contributing to the overall sustainability and nutritional value of this remarkable tropical plant. Specifications USDA Zone   Light Needs   Watering Needs   Leaves   Life Cycle   Avg.
