Bitterroot River - Winter Fly Box

Fish the Bitterroot like you know it — because now you do.   The Bitterroot River Winter Fly Box is hand-curated specifically for the conditions, hatches, and trout behavior you'll encounter on the Bitterroot from December through March. The Bitterroot offers accessible winter fishing, particularly in the lower valley near Hamilton and Victor. Midges and small nymphs produce in the deeper, slower runs for patient anglers.   This box is built around the Bitterroot's winter hatch calendar — midges. Every fly was chosen with tight-line nymphing and midge fishing in slower water in mind, giving you exactly what you need to match what the fish are eating at this time of year.   What's in the box: 36 flies total — 18 unique patterns, 2 of each — covering midge larvae, zebra midges, small RS2s, and soft hackles. No filler. No patterns that don't belong on this river in this season.   Pro tip from the water: Fish the slow, deep runs on the lower Bitterroot in winter. Trout stack in these areas and feed steadily on midges drifting through the current seams — find one fish and you'll find several.   Whether you're making your first trip to the Bitterroot or you fish it every season, this box gives you a proven starting lineup so you can spend more time fishing and less time digging through bins at the fly shop.   Includes a quality waterproof fly box. All flies are hand-tied to Bozeman FlyWorks standards — the same quality we'd put on our own lines.
