How to Prepare Preparing Bitter Melon (Cerasse) is simple and can be done in a few traditional ways, depending on your wellness goals. For a detoxifying herbal tea, use 1 to 2 teaspoons of dried Cerasse leaves or vines, or a few slices of dried bitter melon fruit. Steep them in hot water for 5 to 10 minutes, then strain and sip. For a stronger cleanse, some prefer to boil the herb for 10–15 minutes to extract its full bitterness and medicinal properties. If using the fresh fruit, slice it open, remove the seeds, and cut it into thin pieces—you can juice it, blend it into smoothies, or cook it in stir-fries or soups. Keep in mind: bitter melon is very potent, so it's recommended to start with small amounts, especially if you're new to it, and drink plenty of water throughout the day to support detoxification.
