BITS – 5.5 INCH THICK BIT

“I designed my bit so that it is made of the Black Iron as a principle metal and copper inlaid in strips so that it is protected from the chewing by the stronger black iron. The presence of the copper creates desired moisture. I designed it so that the portions outside of the horse’s mouth are pinch-less and stainless steel.” – Monty Roberts Most trainers agree that copper in the bit creates natural moisture making the bit more comfortable in the horse’s mouth. Black iron is softer than stainless steel and more comfortable on the bars of the horse’s mouth. Black iron makes the bit more durable than an all-copper mouthpiece. The Dee Ring or Egg Butt design is gentler on the corners of the mouth when guiding your horse. Larger gauged mouthpieces are less severe when pressure is applied by the reins. Protection of the precious tissues of the mouth is critical to the performance of the horse. – See more at: http://www.montyroberts.com/shop/equipment/5-thin-monty-roberts-bit/#sthash.OyD8iNwA.dpuf Most trainers agree that copper in the bit creates natural moisture making the bit more comfortable in the horse’s mouth.
