The translucent trap uses sunlight to create a shimmering surface that attracts biting stable flies. Once stable flies land on the weatherproof adhesive, they become trapped without the use of insecticides or chemical attractants. What are stable flies and why are they a problem? Stable flies are biting flies that feed on the blood of horses, cattle, dogs, other livestock, and people. Their painful bites can cause animals to stomp, twitch, and become restless. Heavy stable fly populations may reduce comfort and can affect livestock performance by disrupting feeding and normal behavior. Where should I place the trap? Place the trap outdoors in direct sunlight about 3 to 4 feet above the ground, at least 10 feet away from buildings. Position it near areas where stable flies are active, such as fence lines, pastures, or outside livestock pens. Does this trap catch house flies? The Bite Free Stable Fly Trap is specifically designed to attract biting stable flies rather than common house flies. While house flies or other flying insects may occasionally become caught on the adhesive surface, the trap is engineered and scientifically proven to target stable flies. How many stable flies can one trap catch? Each trap can capture more than 8,000 stable flies under normal conditions. When should I replace the trap? Replace the trap when the adhesive surface is full of flies or no longer provides effective trapping.
