What is Big Sort Day? We currently have about 1,000 shelf-feet of unsorted books on our shelves. Your job will be to help move books from shelves to a tarp outdoors, where we will have areas for each genre we will sort books into. We will help you determine the genre of each book, and where it belongs. While all of the books are outside, shelves inside the bookstore need to be cleaned and labeled. By the end of the day, we will return all books to the shelves in their new, organized homes.  When is Big Sort Day? The event is Sunday, October 11, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., with a rain date of Tuesday, October 13. We’ll decide based on the forecast on Friday, October 9, and notify registered participants by 5 p.m. that day. Where is Big Sort Day? 1 Wood Place, Fitchburg MA 01420. We're just behind town hall. Free parking is available on Boulder Drive.  Why should I help? Our small book selling team wouldn't be capable of this large project without your help. You'll be providing real support to get our bookstore ready for the rapidly approaching opening day. Plus, you'll get some perks: Registered volunteers will be provided with free lunch, and any purchases made during Big Sort Day at 20% off and you will receive a coupon for 15% off one future purchase. Info for volunteers: Participants should plan to help for at least two hours. Every attendee must be registered separately, either under their own name or by someone registering on behalf of a child, spouse, or other participant. For safety and liability reasons, only registered participants may attend. Children under 12 may attend and enjoy refreshments but cannot help move books. A limited supply of Bonfire Green Man shirts will also be available for purchase that day. Participants may make purchases during Big Sort Day at 20% off and will receive a coupon for 15% off one future purchase. Lunch will be provided for all registered volunteers.
