Big Hole River - Winter Fly Box

Fish the Big Hole like you know it — because now you do.   The Big Hole River Winter Fly Box is hand-curated specifically for the conditions, hatches, and trout behavior you'll encounter on the Big Hole from December through March. Winter on the Big Hole is for the dedicated angler. Midges and small nymphs produce in the slower sections, and the solitude is unmatched.   This box is built around the Big Hole's winter hatch calendar — midges. Every fly was chosen with nymphing slow runs and midge fishing on warmer afternoons in mind, giving you exactly what you need to match what the fish are eating at this time of year.   What's in the box: 36 flies total — 18 unique patterns, 2 of each — covering midge larvae, zebra midges, small soft hackles, and scuds. No filler. No patterns that don't belong on this river in this season.   Pro tip from the water: Fish mid-day on the warmest winter days. Focus on the deep, slow runs where trout conserve energy and stack up to feed on midges.   Whether you're making your first trip to the Big Hole or you fish it every season, this box gives you a proven starting lineup so you can spend more time fishing and less time digging through bins at the fly shop.   Includes a quality waterproof fly box. All flies are hand-tied to Bozeman FlyWorks standards — the same quality we'd put on our own lines.
