Beyond Trauma Care

For decades, “trauma-informed care” has been reduced to buzzwords and posters. But real change asks us to transform entire systems—from classrooms and clinics to agencies and state policy. Beyond Trauma Care offers a comprehensive roadmap to do just that. Grounded in Chaddock’s Developmental Trauma and Attachment Program (DTAP®), this book moves leaders from awareness to action with practical frameworks, real-world stories, and clear strategies for embedding healing relationships into every layer of an organization. Whether you’re a school leader, mental health clinician, nonprofit executive, policymaker, or frontline staff, you’ll find tools to: Build cultures of Safety Model Regulation and Connections and support staff well-being Foster Reasoning and Competence for children, families, and teams Align strategy, training, and supervision with healing values Inspire lasting systems change rooted in hope and human dignity DTAP combines the science of healing with the power of relationships. If you’re ready to go beyond trauma training and create systems that truly heal—this is your guide. Matt Obert, LCSW, serves as President and CEO of Chaddock, where he has found his true calling. Every day, he leads a passionate team that chooses to step into the hardest places—where pain, loss, and trauma seem overwhelming—and bring hope. Rather than turn away, they are compelled by love to stand with children and families, believing that healing is always possible. Matt invites readers to join this work, to see that together we can transform lives, one relationship at a time.
