Benjamin Patocka Violin 1897

This 1897 Benjamin Patocka violin is a beautifully aged instrument with strong visual character and a warm, expressive tonal voice. Representing late 19th-century European craftsmanship, this violin has matured gracefully, offering both musical depth and historical appeal. The instrument features a striking one-piece maple back, showcasing natural figure and movement beneath a well-worn varnish that reflects years of genuine playing. The varnish wear is consistent with use, adding authenticity and charm rather than detracting from its appearance. Structurally, the violin remains in healthy, stable condition, with older repairs that have been professionally and cleanly executed, preserving both integrity and playability. Tonally, this violin stands out for its sweet, resonant sound, with a pleasing warmth and responsiveness that makes it especially appealing for lyrical playing. It offers a balanced voice with enough depth to carry while maintaining a refined, singing quality. Finished with ebony fittings and professionally set up in our shop, this instrument is ready for continued performance.
