9-Pointed Brass Bell & Vajra (Mala Counter)

This Tibetan-style mantra counter is used with malas or prayer beads to keep track of mantra recitation and accumulation. In Vajrayana practices, practitioners often commit to accumulating large numbers of mantras, such as 10,000, 100,000, or even a million repetitions. These mantra counters are specifically designed to support such high-volume recitations, helping maintain focus and discipline. There are two traditional types of mantra counters: one with a pair of tassels, each containing 10 beads (often featuring a mini vajra on one strand and a mini bell on the other), and the clip-style counter. This pair-type counter is used for tracking smaller accumulations, with one tassel for tracking 100s and the other for 1000s. Symbolism & Meaning The vajra symbolizes indestructibility and spiritual power, while the bell represents wisdom in Tibetan Buddhist iconography. These counters are essential tools for serious practitioners, supporting dedication to mantra recitation and spiritual accumulation. The stones—red and blue—further enhance the significance of the counter, symbolizing power, wisdom, and protection.
